Jose Mourinho Praises Two Man Utd Stars After Narrow Win
Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho praised the mentality of two of his younger stars after his side's narrow victory over Anderlecht in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday.
The Red Devils qualified for the semi-finals of European football's second biggest club competition after Marcus Rashford scored an extra-time winner to send the English side through with a 3-2 aggregate win.
After the game, Mourinho praised the forward and his teammate Luke Shaw for their performances..
"I always trust the players with a special mentality," Mourinho told Sky Sports.
"Always trust them. Luke Shaw did something new today, it means a lot for me.
"After 90 minutes, before I know that I have to change Zlatan, he had a cramp, I had Ashley Young ready to come on, and he told me I'm going to play for 30 minutes with cramps, no problem.
"He said if you need to make a change in another position I am ready for it.
"This kind of things make me trust the players. There are technical aspects, but the mentality is the reason why I kept Marcus (Rashford) on the team all the time, because of that.
"At the performance level, he was months without scoring, but my trust on the boy is always based on his mentality. We have great examples of fighters, with the right mentality."
The Old Trafford club is now through to the last four in the Europa League, where they could face either Celta Vigo, Olympique Lyon or Ajax Amsterdam.
