Kjell Talking Cup Final For Pirates After Disappointing League Campaign
Orlando Pirates Turn Focus To The Nedbank Cup
Orlando Pirates coach, Kjell Jonevret, has turned his attention to the Nedbank Cup and aims to take some positives from a disappointing 2016/17 season.
The Buccaneers have relinquished their record of being the only team that has never finished out of the top eight on the log, since the PSL’s inception in 1996.
Pirates’ disappointing 2016/17 Absa Premiership season has left them in 11th place on the log with only one game remaining, following Wednesday’s 0-0 draw against Ajax Cape Town.
Speaking in a post-match press conference at the Orlando Stadium, Jonevret said it would be good for Pirates to focus on doing well in the Nedbank Cup.
“It’s a big chance for us in the cup. We just have to be braver when we have the ball but we need to stay as we were defensively,” said the Swedish coach as quoted on Bucs’ Twitter account.
Pirates will travel to KwaZulu-Natal for their Nedbank Cup semi-final game against Golden Arrows at Durban’s Princess Magogo Stadium on Sunday.
“Since I arrived, we worked on being more stable. We’ve done that because we haven’t lost a lot of games.
“Our focus now from tomorrow is in getting this next game in Durban under the belt. Then we go back for the last league game & final,” said Jonevret as quoted on the club’s Twitter account.
