Phiri Steamrolls Into Danish Semifinals
Lebogang Phiri Is Into The Danish Cup Semifinals With Brondby
Lebogang Phiri is still on course to win a trophy with Brondby IF this season, with his side making it into the Danish Cup semifinals last night.
Brondby do still have a mathematical chance of lifting the Superliga title this year as they battle it out with FC Copenhagen, however their rivals do have a healthy advantage going into the last few games.
With that in mind, Phiri and his teammates will also be focused on the DBU Pokalen – a trophy they haven’t won since 2007/08 – after beating Randers in the quarterfinals of the competition last night. He played the full 120 minutes as they won following extra time.
Phiri has become a firm fan favourite with the Danish giants since helping keep them in the top-flight back in 2013, and in 2015 the 22-year-old was inducted onto the club’s Wall of Honour.
At this stage it remains to be seen whether the midfielder, whose contract expires at the end of the season, will sign a new contract with Brondby or not, however his commitment has never been questioned and he will be eager to finish the season on a high note regardless of what lies ahead.
