Chiefs Trio In Fitness Race For Sundowns Clash
Kaizer Chiefs Have A Few Injury Worries
Kaizer Chiefs have three players looking to recover from injury in time to face Mamelodi Sundowns as their medical team works overtime at Naturena.
The Glamour Boys won the Macufe Cup over the weekend with a 4-2 victory against Bloemfontein Celtic, and while a handful of first team players were involved, several were rested and/or left out completely.
It was reported by the Siya crew prior to the game at the weekend that Siphiwe Tshabalala, Erick Mathoho and Daniel Cardoso were all doubtful for the encounter after picking up minor knocks, but that all are expected to be fit for the clash with Masandawana.
Cardoso made it onto the bench this weekend – albeit with his knee heavily strapped, although Steve Komphela didn’t feel the need to risk the centre back given the fact that he is likely to start on the 17th.
Erick Mathoho was present in Bloemfontein, however, was left out of the squad by Komphela.
Meanwhile, there was a return to action for Sibusiso Khumalo following his prior injury, news that will be welcomed by Komphela, while Ryan Moon continued his comeback by scoring the fourth goal.
There was also a rare appearance for Joseph Molangoane – a player who has fallen out of favour under Komphela, who came on as a substitute for the second half.
