Argentina Boss: The Team Needs To Be At Lionel Messi's Level
Argentina manager Jorge Sampaoli has called for his team to all be on Lionel Messi’s level, ahead of their final 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier on Wednesday morning.
The Albiceleste need all three points on Wednesday against Ecuador in their final qualifier, where they will learn their fate about whether or not they will be going to the World Cup in Russia.
The side have struggled to gel in recent games, and Sampaoli, who has only been in charge of the Albiceleste for three games, has insisted the rest of the players need to be on the same page as Messi in their final match.
"In these three games, I led an incredible Messi — committed, pressing," he said, according FourFourTwo.
"If we are at Messi's level, the match will go very well."
Argentina are currently sixth on the South American qualifying standings, as it is only the top four who go through automatically, while fifth spot goes to an intercontinental qualifier.
