Ex-Chiefs Star Wanted At City?
Former Chiefs Midfielder Attracts City Interest
Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder, Mandla Masango, could be set for a return to the PSL in the near future.
As reported in the latest Soccer Laduma, Masango’s name has made it onto the list of transfer targets for Cape Town City, with the Mother City outfit believed to be keen to add him to their roster for the 2017/18 season.
Masango had a falling out with Danish club Randers FC over a move away, which resulted in him falling down the pecking order and out of the squad.
The Siya crew has gathered that Benni McCarthy-coached City are keen to strengthen the squad with the former Chiefs star, according to sources.
“Cape Town City is interested in Mandla Masango. The club has approached the player for talks about a potential deal. Mandla is keen but if the figures that have been mentioned for his salary and signing-on fees are anything to go by, I doubt it will be easy for the deal to happen.
“That kind of money is crazy for this market. The player is back in Europe, after spending over a month or so at home here in South Africa. He hasn’t been playing,” said the source.
Masango, 28, spent the second half of last season on loan at SuperSport United. For more details on the story about the Kwaggafontein-born player, as well as other Siyagobhoza stories are contained in edition 1047 of Soccer Laduma.
