Sundowns Keen On Chiefs Striker
Mamelodi Sundowns Keen On Kaizer Chiefs Striker
Mamelodi Sundowns are showing interest in one of Kaizer Chiefs’ strikers as Head Coach Pitso Mosimane assesses his options ahead of the January transfer window period.
As previously revealed by the Siya crew, Sundowns have not given up hope of landing the signature of the in-demand striker, Jeremy Brockie.
However, with the uncertainty surrounding whether or not SuperSport United will be keen on hearing offers for the player in the upcoming January transfer window period, Siya sources have revealed that Head Coach Mosimane has been considering other possibilities in the meantime.
As revealed in last week’s edition of Soccer Laduma, Sundowns have been monitoring the progress of Amakhosi’s Gustavo Paez with a keen eye.
The Venezuelan joined up with the Soweto giants in January this year, where he since went on to steal the hearts of the Amakhosi faithful supporters.
Paez’s contract with Chiefs is set to run until, at least, June 30 of 2019, with the player now approaching his final year in the Amakhosi colours.
Despite Chiefs still being on the hunt for a new striker, the Glamour Boys will not want to lose Paez’s influential contribution to the team.
However, the 27-year-old is already attracting interest from elsewhere in the Premier Soccer League, with Head Coach Mosimane believed to have identified Paez to be the missing puzzle of his attack.
As reported over the past months, Leonardo Castro’s exit from the Chloorkop-based club is now inevitable at this point, with the player possibly set to complete a move elsewhere during the upcoming January transfer window period.
Should Castro leave, Sundowns will be determined to find a replacement for the striker and it remains to be seen whether the Brazilians will look to approach Amakhosi for Paez’s services.
